Jan 19, 2015It's thrust bearing alignment. The rear side of the lower (main cap) thrust bearing shell MUST be aligned with the upper (block) shell. Failure to do this results in only having half the bearing carry the entire thrust load--and it reduces thrust clearance, too. ANY time you disturb the thrust bearing, it'll have to be re-aligned.
